Another great weekend at Upfest and this year I got to paint in my own venue. It was a closed down shop that had been taken over by a bar who were hosting a glitter booth, dodgy disco and BBQ so it was a natural fit to squeeze me in there. It was a bit of a goldfish bowl with a massive glass front and a 3.5m wall for me to paint but I got stuck in and painted a small gathering of Korpworms with a leader against a setting sun. I had a slow start so stuck my headphones on and got to work, not as social as previous years but time was short and I needed to make the most of it.
I did get to chat with a few people though, old and new friends, you know who you are, thank you for stopping by, its the best part of the day. Several pieces of free art were dished out to some of the people who were wearing my t-shirts and hoodies but big thanks to everyone that attended in their Korp merch it was great to see so many of my tees walking around the festival. Finally gotta say a massive thank you to the festival organisers for putting on another class event and all the crew and volunteers who make it all run so smooth on the day. Also big thanks to my hosts at Rachels for the beer a food. Always great to see so many friends there just a shame it was all work for me this year with no time to take it all in. Here are a few photos of me in action (I use the term loosely).

I've been lucky enough to be accepted into Upfest for a few years now and every year I spend a fantastic weekend painting on boards that after a few days get taken down or painted over. This year I'm really excited to announce that I will be working from a more permanent location on North Street which is the closed down outlet called Rachels Antiques. Its just a 10 minute walk from the Tobacco Factory down North Street and just 2 minutes from the large wall at The Masonic . I'll be painting with Andi Rivas and Bill Giles which I'm really looking forward to as I've never met them before. Here is the 2016 Upfest flyer and route map.
My show at Play Dead will be ending soon. Here is a little look at the artwork on display but you have to be there really. There are only a few pieces left so speak to Samo at the gallery if you see something you like |
