Had a great day painting on giant records for the Pie & Vinyl Record Store Day Paint Jam. Keeping me company were Winniemmay, My Dog Sighs and M-one. Big thanks to Pie & Vinyl for organising the event and Play Dead for inviting me down. HAND PAINTED RECORDS AVAILABLE FROM PLAY DEADThese three and three more are available exclusively from the Play Dead gallery in Southsea.

I wasnt sure what expect from FLUX [beta], was it going to be a series of geek talks, a gamer night out or a glitch hop rave? Turns out it was all of these things and much more. It all sarted with talks from Airborne Platforms who showcased their cinematic drone work and Matt Lancaster who got to show off a laser scanner which generated amazingly accurate 3D images of rooms in minutes. Next up was a masterclass in electronic music from Skills and Joe followed by a captivating demonstration of virtual reality sculpting by Lee Mason and Process. All this was held together with retro gaming and a live DJ set topped off with an opportunity to play on a VRcade supplied by The Outstanding Events Company. Lee Mason and co have done a great job pulling this event together and with any luck there will be follow up nights coming soon but the only way you'll know for sure is by joining the Metageist group on Meetup. I painted a suitcase and it went on its travels. Here are the results. These photos are from the owner of Take a Butchers gallery in Dusseldorf. Since being told I would be losing my old studio and the end of last year I've been on the lookout for a new place to art and as a result I moved into the Undercroft in Hampton. Its a fantastic space, large enough to grow and a little rough around the edges to suit the way I paint. Check out these photos from Viphotography. Gotta say a huge thanks to everyone that supported the search from Metal for their advice to Simon at The Ostrich for his sheer willingness to find somewhere but especially Keely Mills for letting me take up residency at the Eastern Angles theatre space at The Undercroft. The plan is to eventually hold a paint jam and some workshops and artist talks here so if that is something that floats your boat please get in touch using the button below. At the moment the studio is open every Friday between 9 and 3 for you to take a look at the art on display, check out the apparel store or just hang out with coffee.
Battle Lines 7 saw Peterboroughs Rob Clarkson take on Frankie Curtis from London. Frankie took a quick lead by going straight in with a big black Posca pen while Rob was still sketching out but he soon made a comeback showing great technique with a Posca pen and brush to create some bold shading. Rob finished first with time to spare but Frankie kept adding to her piece which gave you so many things to look at. With two completely different styles it was difficult to choose a winner however the crowd vote had Rob just ahead. Who do you think should have won? Battle Lines takes place at The Ostrich on the last Friday of every month. Anybody wanting to take part needs to message the page...all links below. Instagram links |
